Entry GuidanceWhat to know before travelling to Tanzania
Use the section that matches your travel purpose and passport context.
01Tourist & Leisure
Visitor requirements
Kenyan ordinary passport holders are exempt from an entry visa. Admission still requires satisfactory entry checks, sufficient funds and return or onward travel. The authority grants the visitor’s pass and permitted stay; follow the period recorded at entry.
Passport & documentsThe government’s entry advisory requires a recognised passport or travel document valid for at least six months. This review concerns travel on an ordinary passport; alternative border documents need separate confirmation.
02Business Travel
Business requirements
For temporary business, trade, professional activity or an assignment, visa-exempt nationals have a Business Pass route. Explain the exact activity to Immigration or the High Commission and obtain the applicable permission. Do not treat tourist admission as work authorisation. Longer employment or residence requires separate assessment.
03Passport Context
Kenyan passport holders
Kenya is on Tanzania Immigration’s visa-exempt list. The High Commission states that a visitor’s pass for EAC citizens may cover up to six months. This is a maximum, not a guaranteed stay or permission to work.
Kenyan residents using other passportsThe stated review scope concerns Kenyan ordinary passports. Kenyan residents travelling on another passport must check rules for that nationality, residence and purpose separately.
04Application Route
How and where to apply
Kenyan tourists undergo entry clearance without an entry-visa application. For a business trip, use the Tanzania Immigration Pass Application service and its current Business Pass checklist, or seek guidance from the Tanzania High Commission in Nairobi before travelling.
Embassy / missionTanzania High Commission, Nairobi. Use its official Passes and consular service pages for current contacts and case-specific advice.
Processing guidanceThere is no entry-visa processing period for an exempt Kenyan tourist. The reviewed pass guidance gives no guaranteed Business Pass decision deadline; check with the issuing authority and arrange permission before undertaking the activity.
