Entry GuidanceWhat to know before travelling to Mauritius
Use the section that matches your travel purpose and passport context.
01Tourist & Leisure
Visitor requirements
Kenyan passport holders are listed as not requiring a visa. Carry a return ticket, evidence of eligibility to re-enter your country of origin or residence, sufficient funds and a confirmed hotel booking or accommodation sponsor. Admission and the actual permitted stay are decided at entry.
Passport & documentsMauritius requires a recognised passport or travel document valid beyond the intended stay. Check any separate transit-country requirements for your route.
02Business Travel
Business requirements
Business visits for establishing or conducting business or investment are limited to 120 days in a calendar year, with no more than 90 days per trip and no remuneration in Mauritius. Declare the correct purpose and obtain Immigration advice on any additional permission. Employment or residence has separate requirements.
03Passport Context
Kenyan passport holders
Kenya appears as visa-exempt in the Passport and Immigration Office country list. Tourism permission may cover up to six months in a calendar year, assessed case by case. Follow the shorter period if that is what Immigration grants.
Kenyan residents using other passportsThis review concerns Kenyan ordinary passports. Kenyan residents travelling on another passport must check the rules for their nationality, residence and purpose separately.
04Application Route
How and where to apply
An exempt Kenyan leisure traveller does not need an advance tourist-visa application. If your nationality or purpose requires a visa, the official route is through a Mauritius diplomatic or consular representative, then an Air Mauritius office where no representative exists, or the Passport and Immigration Office where neither is available. Use the official checklist; business applications also require a local sponsor or company letter.
Embassy / missionPassport and Immigration Office, Mauritius. Its official website provides current contacts, application guidance and the directory of Mauritius diplomatic missions.
Processing guidanceThere is no advance tourist-visa processing period for an exempt Kenyan traveller. Where a visa application is required, the authority advises applying at least one month before travel and aims, where practicable, to issue it within 12 working days of a complete application. Wait for the outcome; this is not a guaranteed deadline.
