Entry GuidanceWhat to know before travelling to France
Use the section that matches your travel purpose and passport context.
01Tourist & Leisure
Visitor requirements
For tourism without professional activity, France-Visas directs visa-required travellers to the short-stay route. The destination matters: metropolitan France and French overseas territories can have different visa arrangements. Use the official visa wizard with your nationality, residence, destination and purpose for the applicable checklist. Financial evidence must cover the visit and return journey. This record has not yet completed the Kenyan ordinary-passport eligibility and exemption check.
Passport & documentsFrance-Visas requires a travel document in good condition, issued less than ten years ago, containing at least two blank pages and valid at least three months after the intended departure from Schengen for a short stay. Prepare the original and a copy; follow the wizard for other identity documents and photographs.
02Business Travel
Business requirements
France-Visas describes a short-stay business route for partner meetings, trade fairs, seminars and conferences. Evidence should connect your professional activity to the visit, such as an invitation describing its purpose, duration and location, an event admission card or the host's undertaking to cover costs. Use the wizard for the documents appropriate to your personal situation. Employment and longer stays require separate guidance.
03Passport Context
Kenyan passport holders
The official Kenya page confirms the application arrangements for residents of Kenya. It does not, on its own, establish nationality-specific eligibility or every exemption. The Kenyan ordinary-passport eligibility check remains open in this record; use the France-Visas wizard or seek the embassy's advice before relying on any exemption.
Kenyan residents using other passportsResidence in Kenya determines where an application may be lodged, while nationality, travel document, destination and purpose determine the applicable visa rules. Use your actual details in the official wizard; do not assume a Kenyan resident has Kenyan-passport rules.
04Application Route
How and where to apply
Kenya-resident applications are received by appointment through TLScontact, using the link on the official France-Visas Kenya page. Complete the France-Visas application first and bring the final form, receipt and checklist documents. The French Embassy makes the decision. Its Kenya page advises applicants to prepare their own files and avoid unofficial appointment sellers; Sunward cannot promise appointment access or approval.

Processing guidanceThe Kenya page asks applicants to allow at least 15 days after submission, plus appointment waiting time, which varies with demand. Short-stay applications can be lodged up to six months ahead. The general France-Visas process allows extension to 45 days for particular cases. These published periods are not a guaranteed decision deadline.
