Our Story

Born from a Journey. Built for Connection.

Sunward Travel Services Ltd was inspired by a powerful moment in 2014, when our founder, Fredrick Mwashi, witnessed a group of young Kenyan students at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport stranded after their long-anticipated educational trip abroad was cancelled. The reason? Their school had booked through unlicensed middlemen who disappeared after collecting payments, leaving parents devastated and the children in tears.

Fredrick, already a seasoned travel professional with over 10 years in the industry at the time, stepped in to assist. Using his contacts, he negotiated with airlines and arranged alternative travel at a fraction of the original cost ensuring the children not only made their trip but returned home safely.

That experience reinforced his conviction that travel is about more than tickets and hotels it is about trust, human connection, and creating opportunities. Read More

Our Promise

Travel is connection, culture, and purpose

At Sunward Travel Services Ltd, we’re not just in the travel business—we’re in the business of impact. Let us take you on unforgettable journeys, while we collectively build a better world.

We measure success not only by journeys sold but by the impact we create.
– Jobs for youth, women, and marginalized groups
– Training and capacity-building for young professionals
– Community and cultural support programs across Kenya

Through travel, we remain committed to uplifting lives and celebrating heritage.

At Sunward Travel Services Ltd, we recognize that the way we conduct our daily operations has a direct impact on both the environment and society. As custodians of Kenya’s heritage and advocates for sustainable tourism, we are committed to integrating eco-conscious practices into every aspect of our business. Our responsibility goes beyond organizing journeys, it extends to how we manage our offices, resources, and relationships with our communities.

Sustainability is at the heart of our philosophy. We champion:
– Eco-friendly tourism that protects wildlife and natural heritage.
– Partnerships with eco-lodges, conservation groups, and local communities.
– Encouraging responsible travel choices that minimize environmental impact.

Eco-Friendly Office Practices

Green Cleaning Products: All our offices are cleaned using biodegradable, non-toxic cleaning agents that are safe for both people and the environment. By consciously choosing products made from natural raw materials, we protect our staff’s health and reduce harmful chemical waste.

Paper Reduction & Recycling: While we continue to embrace digital solutions to move towards a paperless office, we actively recycle the paper we do use. We work with local recycling partners to ensure that our waste paper is collected, repurposed, and converted into new products, closing the loop in responsible consumption.

Plastic & Waste Management: We minimize single-use plastics in our operations and encourage staff and clients to adopt reusable and recyclable alternatives. Electronic waste (IT equipment and accessories) is responsibly disposed of through licensed e-waste handlers, ensuring harmful components do not end up in landfills.

Resource Conservation

Water-Saving Facilities: Our office washrooms are fitted with push-button taps and dual flush systems that significantly reduce water wastage. Every drop counts, and our systems ensure water is used responsibly.

Energy Efficiency: Offices are equipped with motion-sensor lighting to ensure lights are only on when needed. We continue to explore renewable energy options, including solar integration, to reduce dependency on the grid.
